I am Dr. Frederick Hecht. My cosmetic dental practice is called Staten Island Dental Care. We are located at 1520 Richmond Ave in Staten Island. You can find information about my practice, services, and professional Brooklyn dental team at http://www.afraidofthedentist.com/.

In my Staten Island Dental Care dental blog, I post informative articles about dentistry including new Staten Island cosmetic dental treatments, preventative dental care, and news about my dental practice. Many of my patients visit my blog regularly and I hope you will also find useful dental information here.

Do you currently have a Staten Island general dentist? If you are in need of a dentist or are not happy with your current dentist, I invite you to visit my office, meet my comfortable staff, and discuss your dental health needs with me.

My approach to my profession emphasizes you, the patient.

My first priority is exceeding my patient’s expectations. Before I can provide dental treatment, however, I must become familiar with each patient. That is why your first consultation will take some time. We can’t get to know each other in five minutes.

How are you doing? What is the current condition of your teeth and gums? What are your fears and expectations about Staten Island dental treatment? Do you have financial concerns regarding your dental needs? I recognize that each one of my patients has a unique set of circumstances.

At Staten Island Dental Care, we emphasize preventative dental care. When restorative dentistry is necessary, I recommend the most conservative procedures. If you have pressing dental needs, let’s talk about your options and consider the long term consequences of each treatment. If I believe it is best to refer you to another specialist, I’ll do so without hesitation. I am committed to your well-being and want you to receive the best possible care.

If you are interested in Staten Island cosmetic dentistry, I can also help you. I pursue continual training in the latest cosmetic treatments and have extensive experience performing everything from an individual tooth restoration to complete smile makeover and everything in between. Did you know that I can completely redesign your smile if that is what you desire? Miracles are possible with Staten Island cosmetic dentistry.

Please call us at (347) 695-4370 to book a consultation. I am confident you will feel good about choosing Staten Island Dental Care for your dental care.

Healthy Teeth and Your Staten Island Diet

Healthy Teeth and Your Willowbrook Diet Maintaining healthy teeth is an important concern for our local Staten Island residents. As your Dentist, it’s my job to help you understand how to care for your teeth and to keep them healthy. Everyone in Staten Island knows that maintaining healthy teeth requires regular daily brushing and flossing. Regular visits to your local Staten Island dental practice is also necessary to keep watch for cavities and to help you maintain proper dental hygiene. We often forget that maintaining a healthy diet can also be beneficial for the health of your teeth.

A diet that includes foods that help your muscles and bones, will also help you develop healthy gums and healthy teeth. Examples of local Staten Island foods to include in your diet include foods rich in vitamin B such as breads and cereals. Foods rich in vitamin C, usually fruits and vegetables, help improve the health of your gums. Zinc and magnesium are also good for the health of your teeth and are found in foods like lean beef, fish, and poultry.

All foods increase the production of saliva. Saliva is important to healthy teeth because it helps to maintain the pH balance in your mouth. Maintaining this balance helps keep your teeth and gums healthy. Foods high in fiber also encourage saliva production as does the chewing of sugar-free gum. Gum, however, can damage unhealthy teeth or pull out dental fillings, so always use caution when deciding whether to chew gum and which brand to chew.

Just as certain diet choices in the Staten Island area can be beneficial to the health of your teeth, others can be detrimental. Foods and drinks that are high in sugars are more likely to form the acids that attack your teeth and result in decay. And while table sugar is often associated with the formation of cavities, other sugars such as glucose, fructose, and maltose are also causes, and are often found in juices and sodas. Limiting the consumption of sugars to mealtimes lessens the amount of time your healthy teeth are exposed.

Making good diet choices and limiting between meal sugar consumption can improve the health of your teeth and gums.
